Sard for integrators and MSPs
You look after the backups of the mixed infrastructure of several clients. Sard gathers them in one console, needs no open ports on the hosts, and keeps no storage keys on the server.
What works today
- The agent dials out to the server over gRPC with mTLS: clients’ hosts open no inbound ports.
- Backup data goes from the agent straight to storage, never through the server.
- Storage keys and passwords live on the agent host; the server knows only names.
- Files and PostgreSQL backups, schedules, Telegram reports.
- Automatic restore verification on a separate machine, with an outcome for each source and a printable report.
- Agents installed from the server: deb, rpm and tar.gz for Linux, signed releases.
Planned for MSP
Today an installation serves a single circuit: one administrator and one tenant. Planned, and part of the MSP edition:
- tenant management: many clients in one installation;
- SSO and RBAC, an audit log;
- reports on RPO, RTO and statistics of restores, storages and backups;
- LLM integration: anomaly analysis and help with administration.
Licenses
The Community open core is free under AGPL-3.0. Pro suits a single organization: no tenant management, the number of users limited by agreement, resale not allowed. MSP allows providing the service to clients. We discuss the terms in person.
